01 June – Classical Music at Hagia Irene

As part of the Istanbul Music Festival, the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic will be playing in the historic Hagia Irene museum, one of the oldest churches in town. Sometimes called ‘The Glorious Twelve’, they are a unique ensemble that unfalteringly convey beauty and melancholy. Nowhere else in the world have the larger strings joined together to form an independent ensemble within an orchestra. Since 1972, they have appeared as an ensemble regularly, but only during orchestra holidays. The concert is at 8 p.m.
