10 October – Melancholic Folk from Canada
Great Lake Swimmers is a Canadian band built around the melodic folk rock songs of singer-songwriter Tony Dekker. They are praised for their batch of warm, contemplative, country-folk pop with a melancholic touch. They released six longplays and won the “Best Folk Band” award at the Canada Indie Awards. The band’s style has been compared to Iron & Wine and Neil Young, while Dekker has said his influences include Gram Parsons and Hank Williams. The concert is at 10.30 p.m at Salon IKSV.
