Cinephiles should not miss out on Iranian Director Ayat Najafi’s No Land’s Song to be screened in 34th Istanbul Film Festival. The movie, which took three years to film, received 2014 Montreal World Award for Best Documentary. In Iran, since the revolution of 1979, women are no longer allowed to sing in public as soloists, at least in front of men. Defying censorship and taboos, the young composer, and the director’s sister Sara Najafi is determined to organize an official concert for solo female singers. The screening is at Beyoglu Cinema, 11 a.m.
