13 June – World-Famous Red Army Choir in Town
The official army choir of the Russian armed forces is coming to Istanbul. They were originally established in 1939 to boost moral by glorifying the revolutionary spirit of the 1917 uprising. Step by step, they have extended their team and repertoire, and their performances have been lauded by audiences all around the world. Performing a range of music including folk tunes, hymns, operatic arias, and popular music, the group’s repertoire includes classics like ‘Kalinka’, ‘Katyusha’, ‘The Volga Boatmen’s Song’, ‘Ave Maria’ and popular songs such as Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’. The concert will be at Zorlu Performing Arts Centre at 3.30 p.m. and again at 9 p.m.
