15 October – Jazz Meets Caribbean Music

Sons of Kemet is a UK-based group with a unique take on jazz, Caribbean folk and African music, led by clarinetist, saxophonist and composer Shabaka Hutchings. The combination of these influences yields a music that is powerful, lyrical and fiercely original. The sound of Sons of Kemet was largely shaped by Hutchings, who spent the majority of his childhood in Barbados, where he studied the clarinet and played in a variety of calypso and reggae bands. Their Istanbul performance is at 8.30 p.m. at Zorlu Performance Centre.
