John Garstang, a British archaeologist, made huge contributions to the discovery of Anatolian history in the early 20th century. The ‘John Garstang’s Footsteps Across Anatolia’ exhibition aims to highlight his efforts. His survey of Anatolia and North Syria in 1907 established the full extent of the Hittite Empire. He was one of the first advocates of using photography to record excavations. The University of Liverpool has digitised Garstang’s glass plate negatives, which are now on display at Koç University’s Research Centre for Anatolian Civilisations until 10 December.
