24 September – The Founder of Confessional Art in Town
The Exhibition ‘Larger than Life’ by Louise Bourgeois, of the most important artists of the last century, will be hosted at Akbank Sanat. In her art, Bourgeois thoroughly examined the phenomenon we call memory, without detaching it from time, place, identity and belonging, but rather by consciously delving into these concepts. Her most famous work is the 30-foot-tall sculpture ‘Maman’, which was created for the turbine hall of London’s Tate Modern. Now her body of work has come to Istanbul, with 54 pieces of art that can be seen until 28 November.
