26 July – Enjoy Beautiful Calligraphic Works
Sakip Sabanci Museum is hosting ‘The Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection’ exhibition. On display are illuminated Korans, prayer books, calligraphic compositions and albums by renowned calligraphers. You can also see calligrapher’s tools that were produced between the 14th and 20th centuries. Highlights of the collection include a calligrapher’s writing box decorated with a landscape painting, a pen case from 18th century known as a divit, as well as reed pens andcalligraphic panels with gilded lettering. You can visit this unusual exhibition throughout the year. The museum, near the Bosphorus, is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Sundays and between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday.
