29 March – A Century of Centuries
An exhibition entitled ‘A Century of Centuries’ at SALT Beyoglu takes the work of eleven artists whose production responds to historic traumas or social transformations. The interpreted events range from political crises to catalysts of the most personal kind, explored through video, photography, and installations. Maha Maamoun’s video works, after inspecting the relationship of the pyramids at Giza to modern perceptions, examines the crowds that broke into the Egyptian State Security buildings in 2011, assessing the ways in which modern society laps up pre-processed images as history. The exhibition runs until 24 May.
