06 April – A Comedy About Bigotry
One of the films that stand out in 34th Istanbul Film Festival is Amin Dora’s debut feature Ghadi. The film is a comedy about bigotry and redemption, chosen as Lebanon’s official Oscar entry. In a small neighbourhood of a traditional Lebanese town, music instructor Leba and his childhood sweetheart Lara have a son, Ghadi. Ghadi spends most of his time at their house’s window making loud noises. When the village people start calling the boy a “demon”, strange phenomena start to occur. The film is screened at Beyoglu Cinema, 4 p.m.
