07 October – Cambodian Pop Meets Psychedelia
Cross-cultural Los Angeles band Dengue Fever combines groovy Cambodian pop with psychedelic rock. Established in 2001, Dengue Fever take their name from a tropical disease and many of their songs are covers of 1960’s Cambodian hits. The Cambodian singer Chhom Nimol is known for her exotic voice and her variations on traditional dances. The group’s songs have been featured in TV series such as True Blood and well as in Jim Jarmusch’s film Broken Flowers. The concert is at 9 p.m. at Babylon Bomonti.
